Unrighteous people will not inherit God’s Kingdom.​—1 Corinthians 6:9.

We must certainly avoid choosing to practice the serious sins that some in Corinth had been guilty of. That is vital if we are to say that we have accepted God’s undeserved kindness and that ‘sin is not master over us.’ However, are we also determined to be “obedient from the heart” by doing our best to avoid sins that some would view as less serious? (Romans 6:14, 17) Think of the apostle Paul. We can be sure that he was not sharing in the gross wrongs mentioned at 1 Corinthians 6:9-11. Nonetheless, he confessed that he was still guilty of sin. He wrote: “I am fleshly, sold under sin. For I do not understand what I am doing. For I do not practice what I wish, but I do what I hate.” (Romans 7:14, 15) This shows that there were other things that Paul viewed as sins, and he was fighting against those wrongs too. (Romans 7:21-23) May that also be true of us as we strive to be “obedient from the heart.”
